Vacuum Forming
Vacuum forming is a method to shape sheets of polymers into shell structures using a mold made by CNC machining.
Heat is applied to soften the thermoplastic sheet and negative (vacuum) pressure to shape it on the mold until cooled to its new form. After the sheet has been formed, the excess material is been cut by shaped blade, CNC machine or by hand, depending on the required cut line and quantities.
We design and manufacture the molds according to the required shape, and able to create prototypes in-house or use subcontractors to manufacture higher volumes.
Common materials are PETG, PP, PC, ABS, PMMA and other thermoplastic materials.
